Moving the data to new server with FTP

We will use FFFTP available in Windows as FTP Client

FFFTP settings

FFFTP overview

FFFTP is available in Windows XP, ME, 98 as FTP Client. For Linux or Mac OSX user, use Filezilla or any FTP client you like. Click the FFFTP icon.

Host overview

From the host overview click new host and set the parameter required.

Setting FTP login info

in "new host" setting.

Setting name
Fill it with your domain name.
Hostname
Fill it with your domain name or your IP.
FTP user
Fill it with your FTP username.
Password
Fill it with your FTP password.

Find "PASV mode" in settings and check it to ensure your data will be sent in passive mode.

Enable the use of LIST command to view file list.

Access your server

Click OK and try to access your server.

Connect to your old server

Click "new host " and set the parameter for your old server.

Uploading to new server

Host overview

From the host overview, access your new server.

Uploading the data

Drag and drop files from your PC to new server. Change the permission and files owner as needed.

Finish

Check uploaded data from browser.

Common Problems with FTP

Cannot access FTP

Have you paid your subscription?
Check the status of your subscription.
Check the FTP username and password.
Check the FTP parameter and your current network condition.

Forgot your username and password?

Go to Control Panel and reset the FTP password.

Cannot upload to server

Double check the folder permission and owner in your FTP client.

Cannot see new website

Check your .htaccess rules and index files.
Check index.html
Check the place of uploaded data.
